Description

Our Client, a FTSE 100 Company, are looking for an experienced Web Developer (EpiServer) to join their Travel and Events department.

Overall Purpose/Scope:

To undertake the analysis, design, coding and testing of our FTSE 100 clients Travel and Events web systems in support of the build of a new online travel booking tool. To provide expertise in the use and implementation of the EpiServer Content Management System.

Key Activities and Responsibilities

  • Undertakes the analysis, design, coding and testing of web software products/projects as directed by the Head of Software Development.
  • To work on the delivery of new product and services to enhance the Travel and Events systems
  • Exercises best efforts and known best practice to ensure that software performs accurately, efficiently and reliably.
  • Employs known patterns and best practice to ensure software is maintainable, reusable and logically structured.
  • Exercises best efforts and known best practice to ensure that software is documented and annotated appropriately to enable the understanding and support by other software developers.
  • Takes an active interest in technology.
  • Makes recommendations regarding the systems and software, both voluntarily and as requested.
  • Any other areas of responsibility as appropriate to meet the needs of the business.

Key Performance Indicators

  • Productivity completing development projects in line with agreed timelines.
  • Quality ensuring that software output is reliable, scalable and highly usable.
  • Accuracy ensuring that software change exactly meets client requirement (both internal and external)
  • Logical approach ensuring that the approach to problem solving is logical, and results in expedient resolution.

Technical Competencies

  • Experience of the EpiServer CMS system
  • Setting up new complex EpiServer solutions
  • Managing ongoing EpiServer solutions
  • Any experience of change management in managing an EpiServer project through stages of dev, test pre-production and production (etc).
  • Requirements Analysis - Questioning, listening to, and understanding a customer in order to extract their exact requirements
  • Solution Design - Taking requirements and designing a solution that meets those needs; to include selection of technology, tools, patterns/practices, maintainability, reliability, performance etc
  • Problem Solving - Ability to apply logical thinking in order to quickly and accurately derive the root cause of a technical issue
  • Object Oriented Design - To include knowledge and application of common design patterns
  • Database design and development, including use of SQL, stored procedures, triggers etc.
  • Use of or experience with mid-tier/service technologies such as web services, WCF, windows services and the like
  • .net framework & C#
  • Strong user interface design and build skills. This may come in the form of web development (using all the relevant skills in HTML/CSS/Scripting/etc) or Windows Desktop development
  • Preferably strong in either Web or Windows UI development

Essential Qualification/Experience

  • Experience in a similar team-based software development role, developing and supporting enterprise applications

  • Web Design
  • Windows desktop application design
  • Any .NET certifications
  • Experience of new/emergent Microsoft development technologies
