My client, a leading automotive manufacturer, based in Warwickshire, is looking to recruit a Electrical Systems Engineer to join their Electrical Engineering division on a long-term contract basis.

Position Description:
Systems Engineer Chassis Electronics are looking for an experienced and highly motivated systems engineer to manage the electrical system delivery for Vehicle Dynamic Systems functions across multiple car lines.
The Chassis Electronics department supports Chassis Engineering, providing electronic systems design and development expertise for features such as ABS, DSC, EPB, ACC, and VDS.
Within Chassis Electronics, the Vehicle Dynamic Systems team are responsible for developing and delivering in-house control software for a range of systems including suspension, damping, driveline controls and Terrain Response.
Tasks Include:
Manage VDS Electrical System delivery across multiple vehicle lines
Collate feature and system requirements, and translate/decompose into robust electrical system and software specifications and standards
Liaise with other departments and component owners to ensure robust delivery of the electrical system
Ensure requirements on other systems/modules are clearly cascaded and that timing plans are in place to support the system development and delivery
Long term system strategy and architecture planning
Liaise with Chassis to ensure robust delivery of electrical system across all vehicle lines, and ensure alignment of plans
Liaise with Chassis Electronics module leader on electrical programme status
Management of local and company metrics (Issues tracking, deliverables status, etc.)
Co-ordinate with VDS control system and software engineers to ensure robust and timely software deliveries
Support of in-house software development processes and metrics

Skills Required:
Thorough understanding of system engineering principles.
Highly motivated and self-starting individual with effective leadership skills.
Strong organisational, project management and communication skills essential.
Development and execution of robust DVM/DVP, including validation techniques such as HIL and test automation.
Requirements authoring and decomposition, and requirements and change management tools (eg IBM Rational DOORS, RTC or similar).
Good understanding of software development, integration and release processes.
Experience of quality and robustness techniques and standards such as FMEA, P-Diagrams, noise factor analysis.
Knowledge vehicle electrical architectures and protocols including CAN bus, Flexray, automotive diagnostics and related system development tools (CANalyzer, CANape, diagnostics tools etc.).
Software documentation and quality processes eg SPICE Knowledge of MS Office Applications (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Project).
Develop and execute robust DVM/DVP for electrical system validation including HIL development and vehicle testing.
Develop and maintain Manufacturing & Service documentation for the Electrical system.
Support quality deliverable reviews (FMEA and robustness etc.).
Support Chassis or Electrical led issue investigations and warranty investigations.

Skills Preferred:
Knowledge of dSpace HIL equipment and test automation
Knowledge of fault detection and fault handling techniques
Knowledge of the clients systems and processes advantageous but not essential (eg PCS, GPDS, RMDV, AIMS)

Experience Required:
Experience of software development and delivery through all stages of the engineering development V cycle
Strong communication skills including experience presenting to senior management
Previous experience of automotive electrical system delivery to programmes
Previous experience of working within a cross functional team, including supporting a manufacturing environment
Experience of component, system and vehicle level issue investigations including appropriate problem solving and reporting tools (5D, Is/Is Not, Fault Tree etc)
Must be eligible to work within the UK without sponsorship
Willingness to support occasional travel including overseas testing

Experience Preferred:
Vehicle validation in a proving ground or off-road environment
Experienced in SysML
Experience working with or managing offshore software development teams and/or 3rd party ECU suppliers for software coding and integration tasks
Knowledge of vehicle dynamics and chassis electronics systems such as driveline controls or active suspension systems.
Experience of safety critical systems including related standards such as ISO26262/IEC61508 or similar

Education Required:
Degree in Electronics, Software, Automotive/Aerospace engineering or similar subject, or equivalent industry experience
Full UK driving license

Additional Information:
Primarily located at Gaydon.
Occasional travel to other sites may be required including overseas.
