Description

Role Overview:
  • The Solution Architect is responsible for providing architectural guidance and oversight to ensure that solutions are scalable, secure, available, and operationally sound.
  • This person will be heavily involved in the design and creation of shared client infrastructure, client-specific re-hosting solutions and Mergers & Acquisitions.
  • The Solution Architect will work closely with a diverse set of partners, including various infrastructure groups, product/development groups, and IS/Business leadership, to evaluate a variety of hosting alternatives to meet business requirements.
  • The Solution Architect will be involved throughout the entire implementation life cycle, up to and through production deployment.
  • Throughout the process, this person is expected to share their broad knowledge of diverse technologies, facilitate/participate in project meetings, and document architectural standards for both internal and external audiences.
Role Responsibilities:
  • Facilitating and validating Customer requirements
  • Architect solutions for massively scalable and resilient systems
  • Design software-defined networks and secure data access
  • Work with client implementation teams to finalize client technology footprints
  • Create and maintain architectural designs and documentation
  • Provide leadership to evolve company's long- term strategic technology direction and education regarding client architectures
  • Evaluate designs and architectures, and document results/risks based on required technical parameters
  • Work closely with Technology Development teams to ensure application architectures are consistent with desired deployment models
  • Keep abreast of a broad range of technologies that may deliver value to business
  • Participate in the creation and evaluation of business cases (hardware/software costs) for multiple projects
  • Help organize support models for new applications hosted
  • Coaching Customer and Partner teams on Cloud best practices
SKILLS:

Qualifications:
  • Preferred Years of Experience: 3+
  • Education/Certificate: B.S. Required/M.S. Preferred
Technical Skills:
  • Network and Operating System Security
  • Operating Systems (Solaris, Unix, Linux, Windows)
  • Hypervisor Technology (VMWare ESXi, OpenStack KVM, Oracle VM, Citrix XenServer )
  • Knowledge of cloud technology and distributed computing
  • Strong technical knowledge of cloud technologies & IT concepts (VMWare, HyperV, Cisco, Microsoft, EMC, AWS, etc)
  • In depth knowledge Azure and/or AWS IaaS Services (EC2, ELB, RDS, Route53, S3, SQL database, BLOB Storage, Active Directory, etc)
  • Should have previously designed and deployed solutions on Azure and/or AWS
  • Infrastructure automation through DevOps Scripting (eg Shell, Python, Ruby, Powershell).
  • Experience in building SharePoint 2013 sites
  • Configuration management using CloudFormation, Chef & Puppet.
  • BI & Big Data - Hadoop/Cloudera, MapReduce, Hive, Pig
  • Client Server and Multi-tier Architectures
  • Application Architectures, including .NET or J2EE
  • Communications and Networking Architectures
  • Messaging Architectures
  • Experience with replication and data protection architecture and solutions
  • Experience with SAN & NAS technologies
