Systems Engineer - Communication Systems, ICD
A Systems Engineer with Communication Systems and ICD experience is required to work on a ten week contract with the possibility of extension for our Defence client based in Basildon.
This is a 10 week contract with a leading UK defence business.
Overview of the Systems Engineer contract role
The Candidate will be responsible for the LTE (Long Term Evolution) System architecture & design with emphasis on the LTE-U Access/RF network. Primary responsibilities involve, but not limited to, end-to-end knowledge of LTE products, Technical proposals, Technical research, Customer interface for SME activities, Operator network design, RFI/RFP.
The position requires being on a multi-functional team of LTE system design, testing, field engineering, technical support, installations, product demonstrations and training. Will participate in technology trials, launch and support commercial operation of a new wireless system.
Key skills required for the Systems Engineering role.
- The ideal candidate will possess a broad knowledge of Aerospace Engineering with a good knowledge of Civil Aviation Communications Systems and experience with ICD.
- Mission Systems and test requirements.
- Experience with 3GPP product architecture, design and implementation. Specifically, E-UTRAN and EPC experience is desired.
- Good understanding of wireless network evaluation, 3GPP
- Fluent with 3GPP Release 8-13 technical content.
- Knowledge of various IP related IETF RFCs
- Working knowledge of LTE protocol stacks, WIFI protocol stacks, IP network protocols & QoS.
- Have a solid understanding of the overall LTE Network Architecture.
- Understanding of LTE RLC, MAC and Physical layer protocols.
- Hands on experience with mobility management & mobile broadband functions.
- Working knowledge of various RF antenna technologies & network optimisations.
The role is based in Basildon Essex - commutable from Watford, St Albans, Aylesbury, Milton Keynes, Bedford and Stevenage with excellent access from London.
