Mechanical Design Engineer
GCS have a contract position available looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer as detailed below;
Job Title: Mechanical Design Engineer (CATIA & Smarteam)
Location: West Sussex
Duration: 9 month (with possible extension)
. 3D CATIA expertise to turn concepts into detailed design with direction from existing team.
. 2D drawings
. Materials selection
. Assembly drawings
. Bills of Materials
. Prepare design schemes for products/components for fit, form and function so that the product operates effectively, reliably and safely.
. Produce drawings of products/components that can be manufactured efficiently and economically.
. Prepare designs for products/components in line with the quality control system.
. Produce highly accurate and complete designs which present a clear and comprehensive statement of what is required.
. Develop an understanding of manufacturing methods and processes used and ensure these are related to designs.
The reason for this position is the development and test of new innovative designs.
My client are looking for an experienced CATIA design engineer with Smarteam experience to work within the project team.
The ideal candidate will be required to work within a multi-disciplined engineering team. The main expectations for a candidate are accurate designs portrayed by 3D Models (Fit, Form and Function), detailed drawings (GD&T), tolerance analysis and general assemblies.
The ideal candidate should be self-motivated, efficient in CAD with at least 5 years' experience using CATIA and Smarteam, be able to work as part of a team as well as being self-sufficient in regards to meeting overall project expectations. Ability to liaise with customers as well as working peers are required.
Applicants should hold a degree or HNC in Mechanical Engineering with a minimum 5 years' experience in an Engineering or Design Role.
Experience with complex integrated systems, materials, electro-mechanical systems, casting, sheet metal, structural design with be advantageous with detailed knowledge of integrated systems aiding a distinct advantage.
Experience working within the Chemical, Pharmaceutical or Semi-conductor industries would also be advantageous.
