Description
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to work within Central Government on a contract basis. This position is based in Didcot, initially for 3 months, offering up to £21 per hour umbrella company.
Main Duties:
Ideally to ONC level or equivalent with relevant associated experience, ie proven involvement in the design of mechanical equipment and the manufacture and assembly of related parts.
General experience would be desirable in mechanical component design, which must be supported by basic mechanical stress calculations, along with knowledge of contemporary manufacturing processes and the assembly of parts.
More specialised areas covering elevated and cryogenic temperature work, pressure components, vacuum technology and moving mechanism design would be a desirable.
Knowledge of material applications would also be a benefit, especially if related to the use of materials such as ceramics and advanced grades of alloys in their work.
Some applied involvement in the testing of equipment they have designed, or at least the method of testing would also be useful.
Some practical experience would also be a benefit which should have a focus on how components are fabricated and ultimately assembled.
Essential Experience:
Recent Solid Edge CAD experience.
Mechanical component design.
Involvement in the manufacture and assembly of parts.
Basic mechanical stress calculation experience.
Desirables:
Elevated temperature applications.
Cryogenic temperature applications.
Vacuum components.
Pressure equipment.
Specialist materials applications.
Mechanism design experience.
Practical fabrication and assembly experience.
