Volume: Fulltime
location: Munich / remote
Background: development, prototyping and testing of a tailor-made UAV system for specific applications in the energy industry.
Tasks (independent delivery):
* Translating business and technical requirements into design specifications
* Designing custom-made and/or selecting commercially available components of the mechanical,
electronic and software UAV subsystems
* Designing custom-made and/or selecting commercially available elements of the payloads
* Integrating an intelligence / autonomy module from parallel R&D activities, taking into account
related dependencies and requirements into design
* Validating design through digital simulations
* Assembling and producing a functional prototype
* Planning and implementing flight tests to demonstrate UAV prototype
* Analysing test results and reporting on development improvements plus recommendation going
from prototyping to product scaling
Skills:
* Hands-on experience in design, build/prototype and test UAV systems, with specific focus on
smaller VTOL aicrafts (e.g., quadcopters)
* Experience with open-source flight controllers (incl. Ardupilot and PX4) and single-board
computers for UAVs
* Great CAD skills (Solidworks / Fusion360)
* Familiarity with common UAV ground control software and interfaces (e.g. QGroundControl,
MAVLink or similar)
* Ideally a hobby or experienced UAV pilot, registered for at least the 'open' category operations
(A1/A3) according to EU-wide regulations
* Familiarity with hardware prototyping skills including soldering, 3D printing, etc.
* Experience in autonomous UAV flight operations and navigation is a great plus
* Experience in using high precision RTK GNSS technology also a plus
* Strong verbal and written English skills are essential
