Description

An exciting opportunity for a qualified accountant has arisen in the Group Finance function. We are actively recruiting for a Finance Manager to be part of the Group Financial Reporting team, based in the St Helen's office in London for a period of 6 months initially (however, there is likely to be 9-12 months worth of work).

The team owns the externally published financial reporting deliverables and supporting commentary and analysis, internal monthly and quarterly MI and Group Executive reporting. In addition the team provides finance content support to Investor Relations, internal communications and external media. The team also have day-to-day management of the Group's relationship with the external auditors and external design agency. In addition, the team works with market finance teams around the Group, facilitating understanding and insight of markets IFRS results and providing support where necessary.

Essential Knowledge and Skills:

* Qualified accountant/actuary or relevant experience
* Strong knowledge of IFRS, but also MCEV and related capital/regulatory/solvency requirements (including S2) desirable
* Insurance or financial services experience together with sound financial reporting capabilities
* Proven track record of process delivery to a high standard
* Good IFRS technical knowledge and sound knowledge of other reporting bases (including MCEV and reported non-GAAP measures)
* Strong/good analytical and problem solving skills
* Strong stakeholder management/communication and good written and verbal communication skills together with strong team working skills and ability to develop working relationships with colleagues in finance teams both within Group Finance and across Aviva
* Commercially astute, and able to translate between business actions and financial implications
* Sound judgement and ability to identify and articulate risks and opportunities in a balanced manner
* Strong influencing skills across organisational and geographic boundaries
* Strong prioritisation skills and ability to work with appropriate flexibility on multiple deliverables and able to manage expectations and capable of deciding when to escalate issues
* Strong project/process management (design, implement and improve)
* Cultural and political awareness and ability to deal with people from different backgrounds
* Strong attention to detail/controls focus to avoid financial misstatement and messaging errors
* Strong systems (Microsoft office, Cartesis Magnitude or similar consolidation systems) skills
