Description

One of the Country's leading and fastest growing BPO's have a urgent requirement for an experienced In House Commercial Solicitor specialising in Insurance and Outsourcing to join their team based at their prestigious offices in the City of London on a contract basis for a minimum of 6 months.

The Role

The clients Life Insurance and Benefits division work with global brands such as Friends Life, Zurich and Aviva and require an In-House Senior Solicitor to assist them with reviewing, negotiating and executing commercial outsourcing contracts on large commercial accounts valued in excess of £500M each.

  • Crafting commercial outsourcing agreements on behalf of the end client from Cradle to grave
  • Liaising and negotiating with external legal firms and client in-house legal departments.
  • Reviewing proposed contracts to assess whether risks to the business are mitigated and key business objectives are catered for. In particular, work to ensure that the business is committed to achievable delivery schedules, profitable business and proportionate liability.
  • Draft new contractual terms when these are required, including outsourcing agreements, supply agreements, framework agreements, NDAs, letters of intent, letters of variation and related documents.
  • Acting as a key focal point for internal and external parties to the contractual negotiations, making sure all salient points are clearly communicated.
  • Ensuring that key decisions on the part of the business are made by the correct person and that they are provided with adequate information to make an informed decision.
  • Maintaining a library of standard contracts and agreements which can be used with little variation for smaller, lower risk purposes.
  • Providing an advisory service to the business on agreed contract terms and general legal issues, their meaning and the negotiation of new contracts.
  • Providing assistance to the business on other legal issues as required, within the jobholder & technical capabilities.
  • Maintain an archive of signed contracts in an up to date and safe manner.
  • Providing legal input into tender documents.
  • Providing legal input on customer complaints.
  • Providing support and guidance to other members of the legal team, including peer review.
  • Managing workload and prioritising deliverables.

Required Skills

  • Qualified Solicitor with at least 6 years of practice
  • General Insurance,
  • Client agreements, Bids,
  • Supplier Agreements of IT Services
  • Proven track record and competency in-house commercial outsourcing expertise (ideally but not necessarily within Insurance/Pensions)
  • Excellent drafting and negotiation skills
  • Minimum of 1- 3 years PQE in commercial contracts/outsourcing.
  • Experience working in an in house legal advisory role would be an advantage but is not essential.
  • Highly organised with attention to detail.
  • Very high level of commitment to service delivery.
  • Excellent IT skills, particularly the Microsoft products, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work to deadlines and under pressure.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness to travel when required
