Electro Optic Sensors Engineer - Electro Optics, Sensors, Software, Hardware

An Electro Optic Sensors Engineer with Electro Optics, Hardware and Software is required to work on a six month contract (with the possibility of extension) for our Defence client based in Bristol.

This is to provide technical expertise in support of the delivery of hardware, software and transversal services forming part of the new Naval Ship Electro-Optical Sensors & Control System (EOSCS). Working with suppliers to define, agree and document the technical solution required.

Overview of the Electro Optic Sensors Engineer contract role

  • Liaise with EOSCS Stakeholders to manage the EOSCS requirements specification.
  • Maintain all EOSCS baseline information, coordinating activity to manage configuration control and ensure a coherent document set.
  • Produce regular updates to the EOSCS operability statement, ensuring coherence with the developing specification and design.
  • Development of EOSCS interfaces and other documentation, as appropriate.
  • Manage EOSCS transverse requirements and compliance, liaising with delivery teams as necessary.

Key skills required for the Electro Optic Sensors Engineer

  • Sound general background in Systems Engineering, with experience of both software and hardware.
  • Knowledge of appropriate engineering development methodologies and strategies.
  • Experience of supplier technical management/liaison.
  • Good organisational, oral and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of EO sensors and any performance limitations.
  • Sufficient breadth of knowledge of warship design and the sound judgement needed to be able make correct trade-off decisions.
  • Understanding of the engineering processes and tools used on the project (eg DOORS, System Architect, Windchill).

The role is based in Bristol - commutable from Gloucester, Cheltenham, Tewkesbury, Worcester, Cirencester, Swindon, Devizes, Trowbridge, Bath, Taunton, Bridgwater, Weston-Super-Mare, Newport and Cardiff
