My local authority client are looking for a Investment Finance Manager with previous investment accounting experience. The key requirement is to appoint an individual with strong financial accounting and excel skills.
This post falls within the Treasury & Investment team. You will be a technically strong and qualified CCAB accountant. You will have the communication skills to inform key decision-makers on complex and technical issues and contribute to the pension fund's development, growth and prosperity. Reporting to the group manager, treasury and investments, you will have hands on leading position closing the pension fund accounts process, ensuring that all relevant final accounts files meet the highest standards. You will also deal with all auditor queries on the accounts. You will be responsible for leading the compilation of performance analysis reports for the fund's investments, valued at some £900m, and assist in preparing of briefings on the fund's financial strategy to councillors and senior officers.
You will also work on the design and implementation of improvements to financial reporting and governance processes of the fund and play an important role in major areas of contract management work such as fund manager tenders. You will also deputise for the treasury and investments group manager on all operational aspects of the investments finance function, including treasury management activities. A major part of your role will be assisting in the preparation of reports for councillors' and Freedom of Information request (FOI) enquiries in relation to all aspects of the treasury and investments finance function so you will need to work effectively with key stakeholders both internal and external and assist with planning the pension annual general meeting. You should be able to discuss investment matters with experts and non-experts alike, with the ability to communicate complex matters simply and effectively to tight deadlines.
Local authority experience/Public sector background would be highly desirable .
