Description

Make Room, a national affordable housing advocacy campaign, seeks U.S.-based freelance writers to identify, interview and write profiles of people struggling to afford their rent.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced writer with clips that demonstrate vivid storytelling skills, a sensitivity to the struggles of living with a low income and an understanding of financial and housing issues. The candidate should also be comfortable with having her work used as part of an advocacy campaign that is demonstrating the need for increased public support of affordable homes.

Preference may be given to writers based in Colorado, Ohio or Louisiana.

Launched in 2015, Make Room gives voice to struggling renters and elevates rental housing on the agendas of our nation's leaders. We're advocating for better policies and telling the stories of real families who can't make rent today.

Please send a resume and five strong features or profiles of any length.
