Description

Summary:
  • The Business Development Specialist is responsible for providing administrative and technical support to contribute to the success of the sales team in one or more markets.
  • In addition to being the primary point of contact for sales related issues, the Business Development Specialist is the primary liaison with other functional areas including Credit, Contracts, Operations, Legal, Supply and Accounting to ensure all processes are completed properly and timely to meet the needs of the customers and sales team.
  • Responsible for coordinating and completing tasks involved in the proposal management process:
    Adds/changes customer records
    Sets up accounts
    Inputs and updates pricing
    Works with credit team to provide needed information and secures credit approvals
    Generates contracts (standard and non-standard) based on the direction of sales team
  • Functions as liaison between sales and other functional areas, such as Credit, Contracts, Operations, Legal, Supply and Accounting to ensure all processes related to sale are completed accurately and timely.
  • Maintains and ensures ongoing accuracy of data in the system.
  • Serves as communication liaison between brokers/channel partners/customers.
  • Produces sales/customer reports as requested by sales team.
  • Assists with special projects.
SKILLS:

Minimum:
  • Bachelor's Degree in business related field of study or equivalent experience.
  • 1-2 years of business experience, preferably in the wholesale or retail energy industry.
  • Working knowledge of sales, operations and related business practices and principles.
  • Ability to successfully complete business process and system changes within team environment.
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Flexibility on the job and the ability to work under multiple, daily deadlines for self and others that may or may not report to this role.
  • Ability to write business correspondence and e-mails.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage several different tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of all information at all times.
  • All candidates must have the ability to speak, read and write English.
Preferred:
  • 2 years of retail energy experience in a similar role.
  • Understanding of the various retail electric markets and various UDCs.
