Electrical Infrastructure Engineer

The company is a Fortune 500 company that provides local, national and global communications services to enterprise, government and carrier customers. They are premier global provider of telecommunication services, delivering data, voice, video, and managed solutions leveraging a reliable, secure network both in the UK and Internationally.

Summary

This role delivers both internal and external customer requirements of critical infrastructure, including cabinets, power & bulk fibre.

Essential Duties

  • The role involves providing the new facilities and services via an internal workflow management tool and interfaces.
  • Manage end to end project delivery from outline requirements to handover and project closure.
  • Interpret the requirements, identify and resolve any issues.
  • Review space and power capacity to identify restraints.
  • Calculate project timeline and cost estimates.
  • Undertake space and capacity planning review to ensure the equipment can be accommodated.
  • Produce scope of works/detailed work packages in preparation for tender
  • Provide desk top costing for the required installation works.
  • Establish the Comms cabinets that are required and ordered.
  • Communicate with internal and external stakeholders on updates, project dependencies, issues and impacts.
  • Liaise with the local field operations staff as required.
  • Manage project financial budgets.
  • Undertake all works in a timely, well organised and process driven manner.
  • Arrange purchase requisitions and manage the PR process.
  • Maintain system records and inventories.

Preferred Education, Skills and Experience

  • Education Level: Electrical Engineering/Communications background preferred to a minimum of HNC/HND level.
  • Good knowledge and experience in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering in particular AC and DC distribution systems.
  • Knowledge of fibre types, presentation connectors, test specs etc.
  • Budget management experience and ability to negotiate favourable rates with vendors
  • Experience of dealing with/negotiations with vendors and service providers.
  • Experience within the Communications industry would be preferred.
