Overall purpose of role

Financial Crime, Corporate and Investment Banking is accountable for:

  • Managing the flow of advisory queries in relation to AML Policy and CDD received from the 1st line of Defence.
  • Making risk sensitive decisions in relation to dispensation requests.
  • Completion of EDD reports using internal sources or commissioning vendor reports

Key Accountabilities

  • Completion of EDD reports using internal sources or commissioning vendor reports
  • Advising the IB business and product Compliance teams with respect to high risk situations
  • Advising the KYC operations team with respect to KYC queries and escalations
  • Accessing and understanding a full range of online information sources which enhance the Institution's capacity to more fully understand its clientele and risk exposure.
  • Advising EDD management on the potential risks uncovered by EDD reviews.
  • Document all cases requiring additional investigation in the case management system
  • Producing MI in relation to EDD work and collating report KYC process KRIs.
  • Advising the business on high risk relationships/transactions
  • Assist with ad hoc projects as directed by management

Stakeholder Management and Leadership

The candidate will have experience engaging with a wide range of stakeholders across KYC, the Business, Compliance and FinCrime colleagues.

Decision-making and Problem Solving

The candidate will have demonstrated ability to understand, assess and mitigate Financial Crime risks associated with Corporate and Investment Banking products sets and customer base.

Risk and Control Objective

Ensure that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements, Enterprise Wide Risk Management Framework and internal Barclays Policies and Policy Standards

Person Specification

  • Must have previous experience in a(EDD) Enhanced Due Diligence & AML Advisory role writing EDD Vendor reports
  • Proven technical expertise in the field of Financial Crime - including domestic and international laws, regulations, and best practice regarding Financial Crime;
  • Proven technical expertise in understanding, assessing and mitigating the Financial Crime risks associated with Corporate and Investment Banking products sets and customer base.
  • Experience of working within a highly regulated environment along with a sound understanding of current environment and key issue within financial services;
  • Numerate and financially literate; able to understand and contribute to the business discussions
  • Skilful co-ordination in working across a wide range of stakeholders both within and beyond the function
  • Line/team management experience
  • Creative and forward thinking, striving to improve and find solutions through effective innovation and project management
  • Excellent written communications skills
  • Highly organised and structured

About Financial Crime

Financial Crime undertakes the lead role in assessing and understanding the implications of new and emerging legal/regulatory requirements relating to Anti Money Laundering (AML), Anti-Bribery and Anti-Corruption (ABC) and Sanctions.

We define Barclays level standards and controls in order to manage risk in these areas.
