My client is a FTSE 100 company and are hiring Electronics Design Engineer on a contract basis, based in Leicester. You will be part of a small and highly competent team that designs and manufactures low-carbon and energy efficient products and SMART Technologies and services.
Job Outline:
Role involves: - Design of new PCB assemblies and systems
- Maintenance of existing hardware designs through on-going iterations due to component obsolescence or spec changes
- Design validation and verification for all new and amended designs
- Liaison with factories on Design for assembly and Design for test
- Maintenance of product Design data such as Bills of Materials, schematics, drawings and component data
- Participation in statutory approvals testing
- hardware support for software developers (provision and modification as required of prototype hardware)
- Working with third party device partners to ensure that their products meet our requirements
What experience are we looking for in our ideal candidate?
- Degree or equivalent in electronics engineering, or similar, backed up by experience, preferably in design of consumer electronics devices
- Hands-on design of Microprocessor-based products in the consumer electronics space
- Hands-on design and test of low power RF hardware
- Excellent soldering and prototyping skills
- Experience of electronics manufacturing and test techniques for medium volume consumer electronics
The following would be an advantage:
- Familiarity with Mentor PADS and DX Designer or PADS Logic
- Familiarity with Solidworks 3D CAD
- Experience with ZigBee wireless or other LPRF products
