Description

My client is a major leader in the design and manufacture of equipment for the Space industry.

They are now looking for an experienced Satellite Network Systems Engineer to join their payload development team for a 6 month rolling contract.

Responsibilities:
* Designing networking solutions for systems wherein the network nodes are Low-Earth Orbit (LEO) satellites
* Defining associated payload road maps, requirements and development needs
* Interacting in these definition tasks with the Department's payload architecture designers and implementation specialists
* Participating to development/demonstration project build-up (including bids, partnership development, project implementation)

Profile
The candidate must be familiar with the domain of satellite telecommunications and have a university degree in electrical engineering specialising in data communication networks, and a minimum of 5+ years of recent professional experience in that field.

Core skills will include:
* Flexible routing and switching solutions in a network providing mainstream carrier data services
* Specific knowledge of carrier Ethernet access network and associated service types
* Network management and control
* Network security
* Features of LEO satellite constellations: call admission control, handover algorithms
* Features of satellite links: limited bandwidth, delay, fading
* Features of satellite payloads: limited power and computational power
* Radio-resource management: channel allocation optimizing quality of service versus bandwidth utilisation
