Description

A leading Renewable Energy operator, focusing on Offshore Wind within the UK and Europe are looking to recuit an experienced WTG Installation Manager for a UK asset on the East coast.

Reporting to the Turbines Installation Package Manager, the person is ultimately responsible for overseeing all load-out and offshore activities related to the safe and efficient installation of the turbines; this will also entail managing the day to day load-out and installation and Commissioning activities, coordinating with the Port Assembly Representative and a number of Client Representatives on board the Contractors installation vessel(s) as well as having responsibility for ensuring that all lifting, installation and vessel activities have been planned and are executed thoroughly and safely.

Principal Accountabilities

Health, Safety & Environment - ensuring load-out and offshore works procedures are being carried out in accordance with the Employers Requirements, best industry practice and to relevant legislation, and that all required permits to work are in place prior to the Contractors work commencing. Ensuring turbines and towers are loaded, transported and installed in a safe and environmentally sound manner, and in accordance with the Employers Requirements, the Construction Phase Plan, relevant legislation and best industry practice.

Leadership: Lead and motivate a team of Client Representatives onshore and offshore on-board the installation vessel(s) including arranging efficient crew changes for the Clients Representatives during the installation period.

Quality Management: Ensure the transportation and installation of the turbines in accordance with the Employers specification and relevant regulations, standards and codes. Be the first point of call for rectification of installation issues and recommending appropriate course of action.

Coordination: Day to day coordination and communication with the Principal Contractor and Site Management teams, the Marine Warranty Surveyor, the Employers Inspectors, commissioning team and Engineers and the Contractor's Offshore Installation Representatives.

Installation Management: Confirming method statements, risk assessments, lift plans, safety procedures, permits to work and related documents for all loading, transportation and offshore work are in place and accepted by the Principal Contractor.

Review and provide Client input into the installation vessel(s) marine procedures and Safety Management System.

Ensure all lifting operations and vessel loading and installation activities are planned and undertaken safely, and that all lift plans are being followed appropriately.

Reporting of near-misses and incidents.

Knowledge and Skills:
  • Engineering background
  • Significant offshore experience, preferably in the planning and executing of WTG turbine installation activities.
  • Offshore and onshore heavy lifting experience or significant understanding of principles and practices.
  • Excellent knowledge of current UK health, safety and environmental legislation including LOLER and PUWER.
  • Experience and familiarity with Construction (Design & Management) Regulations.
