Senior Artwork Project Manager/Maidenhead/8 Months Contract/Up To £31 Per Hr

JOB DESCRIPTION

Manage and support the overall implementation of packaging change identifying impact issues for all new packaging developments, artwork changes and new product launches to meet Global, EAME & NE Branding.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Operational Requirements

Ensure that packs and packaging materials are accurate and specified in accordance with the requirements of a high-level business performance, GMP (European Guide to Good Manufacturing Practice) and J&J Global Change Control Guidelines. This includes the checking and approving of amendments to existing or new packaging.

To take a pro-active role with Regulatory, Supply Chain Planners, Quality Assurance and Inter-Company and Third Party Manufacturing to ensure changes occur within Regulatory and Legal constraints and timelines.

Partner with Marketing to deliver NPI & Rebrand Activity for the NE cluster. Over-see artwork process from pre-production briefing through to press pass.

Liaison with marketing, production, warehouse, distribution and storage to ensure all technical packaging requirements are fulfilled, including templates, barcodes, colour and manufacturing requirements. Providing information regarding printed packaging materials to internal departments and appropriate outside agencies.

Support UKI, Nordics & European Supply Teams in identifying and developing suitable vendors who are capable of supplying products of consistent acceptable quality standards at realistic prices and providing high service levels. Jointly maintain standard costs and other performance related criteria for Inter-Company, Third Party Manufacturing and Contract work.

Lead Key Strategic Projects as deemed necessary to support Johnson & Johnson Consumer Healthcare Business objectives.

Develop and implement strategic procedures with new suppliers to comply with GMP.

Technical Accountability

To advise technical and business constraints of printed packaging components for new and existing company products from design stage through to actual production.

Actively participate in internal and external packaging change meetings. Pro-actively preparing and communicating project status to support implementation timings.

Create artwork brief's and effectively manage required steps with the Artwork Design Agency relating to technical requirements and timing constraints.

To consistently review and update existing packs and packaging components, ensuring that consideration is given to all relevant factors including:

Marketing requirements for presentation of product and company image.

Regulatory requirements for data accuracy and implementation deadlines.

Technical requirements for Production, Distribution and Storage.

Legal, commercial and environmental constraints.

Manage and co-ordinate new project development with marketing, regulatory and design agencies to support NE Cluster & European affiliates ensuring effective project timings and plans are in place to meet the necessary business constraints.

Check artwork as per guidelines including design and layout, colour, over printing, Braille, etc. and ensure the process of artwork change takes place within GMP guidelines and is documented accordingly. Authorisation of final proofs prior to ordering/printing componentry.

Ensure that codes and information in associated company systems are correctly generated and issued in a timely manner.

Initiate and track projects using Johnson & Johnson change control procedures eg Change Request Document (CRD)/Euro Code Request (ECR).

To provide technical assistance to other company departments, contract packaging companies, companies whose products we market, including acting as team member for project teams looking at packaging relating activities eg attending print runs of new product components. Generation of sub-contract instructions.

To prepare and submit accurate costing's for new and changed products to be produced or packed at third party.

Other

Through trade associations, technical journals, seminars and other sources identify future trends, legal requirements and other changes that may influence our packaging operations.

Carry out regular process/systems reviews to highlight areas of improvement for the benefit of the J&J business. Develop and implement strategic procedures with new suppliers to comply with GMP.

Education

HND Level in business studies or equivalent. Degree level in a science related subject (preferred). Qualification: Institute of Packaging Diploma.

Experience

3-5 years FMCG and/or 2 years in the Pharmaceutical/OTC Industry within a similar role

Knowledge of J&J Company systems an advantage, together with co-ordination experience in multi-department projects.

Purchasing related and Logistics knowledge also required.

Excellent communication skills (ability to communicate across all levels of the business both internally and externally).
