Description

Sopra Steria Recruitment is working in partnership with a major public sector in the UK. We are currently recruiting Corporate Communications Advisor for 5 months initially with possible extension.

This opportunity would suit someone who:

  • Has experience of a busy press office, dealing with competing deadlines and a range of journalists and media outlets
  • Is keen to display and develop their communication skills.
  • Wants to show their ability to take responsibility for communicating on key topics, work under pressure to tight deadlines, manage technical and fast moving issues and create concise briefings.
  • Has some experience of creating briefings for senior management
  • Wants to gain increased insight into the content needed to promote a high profile national organisation's work to specific audiences and the wider public.

We are looking for a temporary press officer to join the national media team.

As part of the role you will:

  • Take responsibility for multiple technical enquiries from across a variety of topics. This includes liaising with colleagues across the client, suggesting the best way to present the information while protecting the client's reputation, gaining sign off and showing political understanding.
  • Produce Q&As to support senior managers robustly deal with questioning.
  • Gain an understanding of the skills needed to persuade journalists and manage key issues around regulation that interest legitimate businesses.
  • Take some responsibility for promoting the client on social media.
  • Shadow a Media Officer setting up and preparing for a media interview, from negotiating questions to preparing the briefing and accompanying a national spokesperson to their interview.
