Knowledge

  • Excellent understanding of design, branding and marketing strategy
  • Strong knowledge of internal systems and procedures within a global financial institution.
  • Knowledge of Trade Marks, role and impact of when they are needed and not.
  • Excellent knowledge of the fundamental principles of design across all media.
  • Excellent understanding of the production process and media and digital channels/environments.
  • High ethical standards; able to manage very confidential information and projects.
  • A deep understanding of design guideline development, and the best way to present the content for the audience.

Experience

  • Minimum 8+ years client or agency design experience working on a global brand(s)
  • Experience of global design development and roll out of a new product/service or proposition
  • Working on multiple international campaigns/accounts and delivering assets within time and on budget
  • Brand identity management, design, creative & art direction in both B2B and B2C
  • Working effectively in a rapidly changing and demanding environments, across time zones and across business activities internally and externally.
  • Building rapport with and maintaining strong relationships with external suppliers and senior stakeholders
  • Experience developing and giving brand and design workshops/presentations to a wide audience
  • Experience in UX design

Skills

  • Fluent use the of Apple Macs and relevant design software packages (egg, InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Bridge, Adobe products, Dreamweaver, Creative Cloud)
  • Excellent design skills.
  • Strong project management and ability to manage senior stakeholders
  • Ability to add value to briefs, when appropriate
  • Full understanding of software packages, different media types, materials and print solutions
  • Strong communication skills including strong copywriting
  • Ability to give constructive design feedback and be flexible in approach
  • Ability to work on own initiative, under pressure, and deliver projects on time and within budget
  • Ability to manage a team, working on morale and encourage them to develop
  • Strong influencing and negotiating skills

The Senior Brand Design Manager is responsible for primarily working with the Global Head of Marketing, Head of Brand Activation and Strategic Projects and the Head of Integrated Marketing Communications in strengthening the role and visibility of the Brand internally and externally through design, campaign execution, corporate real estate, digital and social media, internal communications and other channels.

The role holder will manage the development of the Group's brand design assets, governing and shaping the brand design standards, as well as streamlining Global Marketing's policies and strategies. Responsible for ensuring that the Global Brand Design strategy, assets and systems developed assist in creating a unified, consistent global brand for all internal and external communications.

The role holder will be responsible for giving creative design & art direction to internal and external design resource for any work being done that will generate new guidelines or standards. Managing the brand design approval of brand and business propositions across multiple channels that support the Group strategy, values and behaviours.

As a guardian of the HSBC Brand Identity and design, the job holder has a responsibility to support the tight management of the HSBC trade mark and its brand design assets across all media, ensuring consistency is maintained from the master brand through to business and proposition branding design approaches. They are also responsible to act as a mentor and Design Lead for all Designers on the Global Brand Design team and act as a trusted design resource and a champion for design generally within the company.

The role holder will be a key contact for the RBWM, Private Bank, CMB/Global Banking and Marketing business/functions and will support/lead the design of brand and proposition changes. Working closely with Legal teams, BRCM and Risk to manage the Brand review processes and make sure they are communicated in the guidelines and FIM accurately.
