Role: Senior Editor (Discrimination Law)

Location: London

Duration: 6 months

My Client is looking for an experienced Senior Editor with a strong Discrimination Law background to join the team in London for a 6 month project.

Role purpose/summary: Practical Law needs a qualified lawyer with in-depth and recent experience in private practice of discrimination law, ideally covering both discrimination in employment and in goods & services. Applicants should have a high level of technical knowledge and a strong interest in writing and communicating the law and its practical implications. This role will report principally to the Head of Practical Law Employment.

Major responsibilities/accountabilities:

Research and producing content on discrimination law for Practical Law

  • Research into discrimination law in practice, covering both discrimination in employment and in goods & services.
  • Write and review content on discrimination law for Practical Law, covering both discrimination in employment and in goods & services. This includes practice notes, standard documents, drafting notes, current awareness updates and case reports.
  • Ensure that all relevant materials are correct, up-to-date, reflect current market practice, are well-written and comply with Practical Law's approach to writing.
  • Respond to questions from customers about discrimination law and practice.

Mandatory skills and experience:

Technical skills:

  • A comprehensive and broad knowledge and experience of discrimination law, ideally in both employment and goods & services.
  • An ability to produce well-written, practical content efficiently.

Interpersonal skills:

  • A team player with a flexible approach.
  • Ability to communicate clearly, courteously and regularly.

Personal skills:

  • Strong analytical skills with an eye for detail.
  • Strong commercial awareness.
  • Strong organisational skills.

Personal Experience:

  • Significant recent experience as a lawyer in the field of family law.

Education/Certifications Required:

  • Education to degree level.
  • Professional qualification as a solicitor or barrister.
