Looking for a Communications Officer to work with a public sector client.
Job Title: Communications Officer
COMPETITIVE Daily Pay Rate: £210 Umbrella and PSC IN Scope
Location: Inner London
Contract Length: ASAP to may be extended
As a communications officer on one of our teams you will be involved in communicating client policies and operational activity on areas that are a vital part of Government business.
Your role will, to a certain extent, depend on the team you join, but you might expect it to include:
Providing timely proactive and reactive media handling advice to ministers and senior officials;
Organising ministerial interviews, visits, announcements and publicity around speeches and events;
Skillfully and effectively briefing journalists accurately and with authority;
Working closely with ministers' private offices, officials and communications colleagues to plan and implement media strategies across a broad range of media outlets including specialist, lifestyle, online and other new media;
Negotiating with private offices and Number 10 on timing and handling plans; and
Developing an understanding of issues across the department so you to play an effective part in the wider communications team.
You will be working in a team who are committed, politically savvy and come from a variety of backgrounds, making the office a vibrant energising place to work where individuals' ideas are championed.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Experience of government/public sector press office is preferred.
Strong experience of proactive and reactive press office work is essential.
Knowledge of client, or the areas of environment, conservation, food or farming, is preferred, but not essential.
