Are you a proactive and enthusiastic communications all-rounder with experience in stakeholder engagement? Do you have a passion for health and care?
The Head of Media will manage the high profile clients media relations team. Using a variety of creative approaches, the post holder will develop and deliver a strategy to ensure that the media are aware of the work of the client, its key values and past achievements. The post-holder will provide leadership, expert advice and support for colleagues to deliver high quality content for the media. They will also develop and implement social media strategy. The post-holder will ensure that interactions with the media help to protect and enhance the reputation of the Institute, and help to ensure that journalists regard the client as a competent and trustworthy source of information relating to the work that it carries out.
Experience
- At least 3 years experience of managing a busy media team in a high-profile organisation
- Proven ability to lead the development and implementation of a successful multimedia strategy
- A well-developed news sense; the ability to identify potential stories from a variety of sources and to see the news angle in the different areas
- Experience of developing the media and social media skills of clinicians and academics, including training as appropriate
- Experience of championing the importance of effective media relations and social media within a high-profile organisation
- An established profile within the media community as a highly professional and effective media relations practitioner
- A strong track record in creating, generating and managing engaging content across a range of digital channels and media

- Writing content across a range of channels.
- Liaison with key stakeholders, externally and internally, on complex and potentially sensitive issues.
- Well-organised and able to manage busy and competing workloads
The post holder should be able to demonstrate the following:
- Experience of working in a similar communications role.
- Outstanding writing skills, with experience of writing and editing using a style guide and plain English.
- Experience of working across multidisciplinary teams
