Press Officer - Marketing and Communications

Based in Exeter a Press Officer is required to work on a 3-6 month contract.

For operational reasons this post will be based in Exeter, however due to the current COVID restrictions working from home is currently encouraged.

The Press Officer sits within the Marketing and Communications function within the Corporate Services Directorate. The role sits within the Media and Campaigns Team, under the Head of Media and Campaigns.

Overview

  • Deal with media enquiries in an appropriate, timely manner, including through the use of social media channels, in line with the Marketing & Communications strategy and in collaboration with marketing and communications colleagues.
  • Contribute to production, coordination and implementation of proactive media relations plans, campaigns, narratives and messages in line with wider communications plans, working with colleagues and agencies as required to deliver campaigns and projects and ensure a consistent voice.
  • Draft lines to take, narratives, messages, media plans, press releases, Q&A, blogs and other written content.
  • Help identify up-and-coming media and social media opportunities and threats
  • Work with colleagues to continuously improve the service provided to internal and external audiences.

It's highly advantageous if you already have Security Clearance in place.
