Description

Harvey Nash is working with a Public Sector Client to recruit User Researchers on an initial 6 months contract. This role This role sits within a large User Centred Design (UCD) team including also service design, interaction design, content design and accessibility. Working within service/product teams that also include Business Analysts, Product Owners, Project Leads. In some areas of the Programme there are also Scrum Masters and Delivery Managers.

Main Duties:

  • Execute a range of field and lab based user research according to business and project needs.
  • Deliver user research using relevant methods and tools to ensure research findings are robust and actionable, meeting the overall aims and objectives of the project.
  • Facilitate the inclusion of different types of users in appropriate research activities.
  • Advocate for accessibility, assisted digital, and inclusive design practices and help teams design and deliver accessible services that work for all users.
  • Support teams to continually improve their understanding of and engagement with users.
  • Provide actionable insights to support design decision making and write user needs and user stories.
  • Manage ethics and consent processes, and support the development of privacy and equalities impact assessments

Essential Skills:

  • Experience in a research setting, delivering a range of user-centred design research.
  • Applying appropriate user-centred design research methods (eg desk research, qualitative research, survey design, data analytics, usability testing and accessibility testing) for different design life cycle phases (from data gathering to synthesis and analysis).
  • Communicating research approaches and insights effectively to stimulate conversation and enable teams to agree priorities.
  • Knowledge of other user centred design practices and Agile working practices.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience of user research in a public sector setting.
  • Experience of either digital first or GDS service assessments.

This role is currently remote, but may flexibility to work on site in either Glasgow or Edinburgh and travel across Scotland may also be required when it is deemed safe to do so.

Candidates should hold a current Disclosure Scotland Certificate (dated within the last year) and will require BPSS clearance upon appointment.

This opportunity has been determined as inside IR35 and will require the working through an umbrella company.
