Solvency II Finance Technical Accountant

My client is a global insurer and they are a Solvency II Finance Technical Accountant with strong technical knowledge of the Solvency II requirements for Pillar III Reporting and Lloyd's requirements (ie familiarity with QMCs and Solvency II technical provisions).

Role is require to meet extensive annual and quarterly reporting obligations under the Solvency II Directive.

You will be responsible for calculating the Solvency II balance sheet and for meeting reporting obligations under Solvency II (including Quantitative Reporting Templates, Solvency and Financial Condition Report and Regular Supervisory Reporting)

Some of the key responsibilities include being responsible for Solvency II External Reporting:

QRTs, SFCR and RSR

  • Perform dry runs on annual and quarterly Quantitative Reporting Templates (QRTs) to meet requirements of EIOPA Interim Guidelines, Solvency II Directive and Lloyd's
  • Prepare QRT returns to be made to the PRA (annual and quarterly)
  • Develop content for Solvency and Financial Condition Report (SFCR) and Regular Supervisory Reporting (RSR)
  • Working as subject matter expert on the implementation of Pillar III technology solution
  • Perform User Acceptance Testing for Pillar III technology solution
  • Develop processes to facilitate the reconciliation and reasonableness review of the QRT figures
  • Assist in improving data quality

Solvency II balance sheet

  • Calculate Solvency II balance sheet and reconcile to US and UK GAAP accounts
  • Enhance the Solvency II balance sheet process and documentation (eg QMC for Lloyd's)
  • Develop processes to understand and monitor detailed movements in key assumptions/sensitivities eg Solvency II Technical Provisions and deferred tax assumptions
  • Ensure effective operation of Solvency II financial control environment

Standard formula

  • Assist in the calculation of the Standard formula

Therefore you must have:

  • Strong technical knowledge of Solvency II Pillar III requirements
  • Strong experience of Regulatory and GAAP external reporting
  • At least five years relevant experience in general insurance with good knowledge of insurance accounting
  • Awareness of capital management modelling techniques
  • Very strong Excel and database skills
  • Experience of financial control environment
  • Experience of operating at all levels across the organisation
  • Strong computer literacy - MS Office package
  • Expertise and experience in Lloyd's reporting
