My client is looking to bring a contractor on board ASAP, job spec below.Contract length - 3 months (Extension likely)
Job Purpose:
To install, configure, optimise and maintain the systems and infrastructure services used by the business.
Key Responsibilities:
· Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues that are escalated from the Service Desk team.
· Monitor and administer complex backups of company data, ensuring data integrity and restoration when required
·Ensure the successful integration of new vendor supplied patches and upgrades
· Provide technical expertise to other parts of the organisation in the design and review of new systems and applications and work with the Architect team on implementation
· Liaise with engineering groups to recommend and execute modifications to systems in order to improve efficiency, availability, reliability, and performance. Influence their decision making where necessary.
· Create and maintain documentation as it relates to system configuration, mapping, processes, and service records
· Carry out market research on hardware and software in support of procurement and system development efforts
· Liaise with other groups in projects related to the company infrastructure, whether it be from a design, research, implementation or testing perspective and provide their expertise
· Monitor and test system performance and provide performance statistics and reports using existing reports and creating new ones as appropriate
· Lead, coordinate and participate in key process improvements
· Coach junior members of the team
You need to have all of the following to be considered for this role:
· Recognised certification in platform support (MCSE)
· Proven experience in supporting Operating System, Business Applications and Databases (MS SQL)
· Educated to graduate level or equivalent experience
· Experience in scripting
· Strong focus on IT systems and data security
· Strong customer service orientation
· Good interpersonal and communication skills
· Good troubleshooting ability
· An understanding of the importance of quality customer service and relations and the impact which IS has on the business
· Ability to work well in a high pressured environment, responding to large numbers of user calls
· Ability to converse well with a highly technical user base
· Flexibility is required as there is often pressure to meet strict deadlines
In addition, if you have any of the following that will be a bonus:
· A working knowledge of networking (LAN, WAN, routing and switching)
· Experience of managing and supporting centralised storage systems such as NetApp, EMC, HP
· Certification in IT Infrastructure Library
· IT certification in security such as CISSP
· Previous experience of working within a semiconductor company
