QUANTITY SURVEYOR REQUIRED IMMEDIATE START - POWER STATION - SOUTH WEST ENGLAND

I am currently recruiting for a Quantity Surveyor for a client of mine that are the Principal Contractor for a large Energy from Waste project based in the South West.

The scope of the project has around 6 - 9 months for the build based in the South West.

The client are looking after the civil scope of works and will be responsible for all civils and building services works on site including site set up, bulk earthworks, groundwork's, foundations and concrete works, drainage, structural steelwork, cladding and roofing, M&E works, all associated scaffolding and service supplies.

The client will also act as the principal contractor for the site which will involve the coordination of the design and install of all the process equipment by the Clients Tier 2 contractors.

Primary Functions/Duties

* Managing costs on a wide variety of reinforced concrete structure projects.
* Managing the surveying function within the structures division.
* Early involvement in projects, liaising and providing advice to the tendering team.
* Checking contract terms and conditions and negotiating acceptable terms with clients.
* Performing risk, value management and cost control.
* Advising on procurement strategy.
* Allocating work packages to sub-contractors.
* Sub-contract procurement including preparation of contract documents.
* Administer sub-contract packages including agreement of final accounts.
* Identifying, analysing and developing responses to commercial risks.
* Establishing and operating financial and cost control systems.
* Negotiating to ensure budgets are not exceeded.
* Providing advice on and producing contractual claims.
* Valuing completed work by producing interim valuations and preparing the final account.
* Developing knowledge relevant to contract conditions and their applications especially for design and build contracts.
* Maintaining awareness of the different building contracts in current use.
* Liaise with Estimating and Buying Departments as necessary.
* Attending meetings as required eg with clients, design team, subcontractors.
* Produce periodic cost reports.
* Liaise closely with the site management team in respect of day to day matters.
* Ensure interim valuations are submitted and paid on time.
* Any other duties that may be required by the demands of the role.

Experience/Key Skills

* An appropriate level of qualification eg a degree in quantity surveying or similar.
* RICS/CIOB membership preferred although not essential.
* Experience in managing others.
* High attention to detail.
* Excellent communicator.
* Microsoft packages: Word, Excel, Outlook and COINS financial software or similar.
