This is a Contract Role, required to start immediately and continue until , based in South Dublin.

Role: Senior MQ and Message Broker Administrator

Job summary:

We are seeking a Senior WebSphere MQ Series and Message Broker Consultant to implement and upgrade IBM WebSphere Message Queue and Message Broker infrastructures that are highly stable, scalable and maintainable.

Responsible for implementation, support and upgrades of WebSphere IIB (Message Broker and WebSphere MQ) platforms. This role requires a deep understanding of the capabilities of the IBM IIB platform and the vendor's future plans for the platform.

This position will require troubleshooting and setting-up the new environment.

There will be no Message Broker development done but the position involves supporting development teams in the creation of Queues and Broker Flow deployments, and troubleshooting issues.

Responsibilities and Duties:

1. Participate in the design and implementation of WebSphere IIB (Broker and MQ) platforms.

2. Work on upgrade projects for MQ versions 6 and 7 and Message Broker versions 6.1 and 8 to current versions.

Implement and maintain High Availablity requirements.

3. Monitor and evaluate the daily operation of WebSphere IIB (Broker and MQ) environments. Monitor resource utilization, including such items as CPU, memory, and disk utilization. Report on system utilization and plan/implement recommended maintenance as required. Perform impact analysis for appropriate tasks. Develop and delivery proposals to optimize IIB platform.

4. Deploy applications to production and non-production environments. Create various Broker or MQ objects such as Queues, Channels, Clustered Queues, etc.

5. Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to the platform. Create support tickets and work with IBM as needed. Support IBM HTTP Server instances within the platform.

6. Apply and promote patches.

7. Work with Business Analysts, Developers and Database Administrators to implement new applications or message flows.

8. Maintain documentation related to infrastructure and architecture of integration systems.

9. Produce project related documentation and provide estimates to the Project Lead or Manager for work to be completed.

Educational Requirements and Qualifications:

1. Must be Senior WebSphere Message Queue and Message Broker Administrator with minimum of 5 years experience within a large organization.

2. Broad hands-on project experience with MQ/Message Broker component related design, development, testing, implementation and handover

3. Must have experience working with AIX and HA.

4. Must have hands-on experience installing and configuring MQ 7 and 8 Clusters

5. Must have hands-on experience configuring and supporting Message Broker v 6.1, 8.

6. Must have hands-on experience performing tasks relative to application integration to the infrastructure

7. Must be able to work on projects that extend MQ Series infrastructure, MQ Clustering, SSL channels support, Publish/Subscribe, etc.

8. Must be able to work independently and be self-motivated to 'hit the ground running'

9. Experience with DB2 support required for Message Broker 6.1 upgrades good to have.
