Summary
Employee Relations:

  • Provides leadership to create an environment which will maximize individual performance, productivity and self-development. Promotes a spirit of cooperation and dedication to superior quality workmanship among all employees.
  • Actively pursues proper resolution of all employee concerns or complaints to create and maintain a work environment that expresses care, concern, and an atmosphere of fairness toward all employees by the company.
  • Looks for and acknowledges consistently superior performance by employees.
  • Works closely with Human Resources Department on all matters related to employee staffing, care, benefits, pay, discipline, grievances, etc.
  • Informs and enforces hourly employees knowledge and adherence to:
    o Company policies concerning their employment responsibilities such as absence, tardiness, leaves and disciplinary warning procedures.
    o Department's work hours, including lunch periods and breaks.
    o Required clothing, equipment and personal hygiene standards.
    o Understanding of lines of authority, proper channels of communication and procedures for expressing concerns.
    o The nature of work, instruction & training on the proper use of equipment on the job.
    o Safety and accident prevention measures in accordance with performing specific jobs.
    o Company quality and regulatory standards, including GMPs.
Regulatory & Compliance:
  • Ensures that performance of all in-operation sanitation, general housekeeping, equipment operation, cleanliness and storage procedures meet with quality specifications and FDA regulations.
  • Visually inspects and approves quality and quantity of workmanship in accordance with established standards, including attending daily POG review. Takes corrective action where necessary.
  • Complete 100% Safety Training for self and with hourly employees on a monthly basis.
  • Complete 100% compliance documentation with Safety Department Checklists, Monthly Department Inspections and Equipment Pre-Use Inspections.
  • Lead and/or participate on one KSRMP Element team.
  • Complete 100% of required Accident/Incident Investigations within eight (8) hours of the incident.
  • Ensures that Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and GMPs are adhered to at all times.
  • Ensures 100% Compliance with all local, state and federal regulations (Wastewater pH, air permits requirements, storm water permit requirements, dust regulations, lockout, confined space, PPE, etc )
  • Responsible for understanding and delivering on all key Safety Deliverables including, but not limited to: Safety Events (TIR), Near Miss Reporting and follow ups, Worker's Compensation costs, Safety Work Orders Completed, Compliance Training and Hearing Test Compliance.
  • Responsible for understanding and delivering on all key Quality Deliverables including, but not limited to: Consumer Complaints, Quality Manufacturing Excellence (QME) and Faulty/Right the First Time (RTFT).
Operating & Process Control Responsibilities:
  • Ensures that quality is placed above production targets - action is taken immediately by the team to correct and prevent quality problems.
  • Manages the daily operations in Maintenance. Ensures all employees are occupied with meaningful work at a proper rate of productivity.
  • Insures proper allocation of direct labor to lines on a daily basis thru LIS. Insures employees are paid correctly.
  • Arranges for sufficient working materials and supplies for daily maintenance needs. Follows up with any parts needed for job completions.
  • Generates reports as requested or approved by Maintenance Manager, BUL or BUM.
  • Follows daily work schedule and reports any reasons why work assigned was not completed on schedule.
  • Provides department employees with information about company activities, changes, and other significant events.
  • Takes all appropriate actions to assure the next shift will be able to start and operate as smoothly as possible.
  • Works with all appropriate personnel to plan, implement and evaluate special projects to insure a timely and efficient completion of projects as assigned by Maintenance Manager, BUL, BUM, and Planners.
  • Reviews activities, use and purchases of materials to assure the company receives full value for the money it is spending. Takes appropriate action when a problem is detected
  • Leads and participates in Green Rooms while addressing the overall business key process indicators (KPIs) involving: Quality, Cost, Delivery, Safety and Moral (QCDSM).
  • Checks and verifies that team members are closing out work orders when needed, and putting their time to the work orders.
  • Reviews and sign-off of shift performance (QCDSM) and ensures that all required administration tasks in support of the production team are carried out. Performs walkabouts to ensure safety and housekeeping standards are maintained.
  • Where production problems have been escalated to the team leader, decides on a course of action to resolve the problem. This may involve calling in specialist resources.
  • Develops subordinates and ensures training needs are met by carrying out training needs analysis, one-on-one's and performance reviews. Where a team leader has identified a training need, corrective action must be initiated.
  • Conducts a hand-over meeting with incoming shift team leader. Issues to be communicated include process performance, quality, production schedule, problems and issues.
  • Checks that hand over procedures are followed (eg housekeeping, change parts etc.) and that team members are conducting a hand over to incoming team members.
  • Ensures that visual displays of current performance metrics and targets are prominently displayed in appropriate work areas and team rooms.
  • Provides input and feedback on current process status issues with unit manager and peers.
  • Responsible for understanding and delivering on all key Operational Deliverables including, but not limited to: Line Throughput (OEE), Attainment, B&R, Overtime, Maintenance KPI's, etc
SKILLS:

Qualifications/Abilities
  • A bachelor's degree in Management, Engineering or related fields is required. Education and experience may be substituted for the degree.
  • Applicants must have a sufficiently broad background including but not limited to promoting employees and self-development, packaging and processing equipment maintenance, and manufacturing systems that are focused in the individual's area of responsibility.
  • Applicants must also be able to learn the company policies and procedures.
  • Applicants must have interpersonal and team skills to function as team member and leader.
  • Utilizes SAP to manage maintenance of line equipment. Executes needed work orders for maintenance repairs and monitors maintenance activities with the responsible maintenance supervisor. Requests mechanical assistance as needed.
  • Takes part in maintenance planning meetings, when appropriate, and highlights maintenance problems requiring attention.
  • Where maintenance issues have been escalated to the team leader, provides guidance and obtain additional resources if required.
  • Uses financial reporting, if applicable, as a guide to corrective action necessary to maintain standards and keep costs in line with budgets.
  • Reviews, correlates and approves new and revised engineering methods and standards. Works cooperatively with the Engineering Department to install and evaluate a new or revised standard or method.
  • Encourages and enforces optimal energy and natural resource utilization and monitors to assure minimum waste of all consumable materials.
