Description
Summary:- Under the oversight of the Manager/TL, Veterinary Services and the SPF Operator Leader, this position is responsible for feeding, watering and medicating the SPF Flock; keeping the egg house and equipment clean and sanitary; collecting and sanitizing eggs.
- Maintain biosecurity
- Communicate regularly with the SPF Flock manager and SPF Operator Leader
- Feed, water, medicate chickens to ensure flock production standards are met
- Keep egg house and equipment clean and sanitary
- Collect and sanitize eggs in order to provide clean SPF eggs for manufacturing use
- Responsible for housekeeping and basic maintenance
- Monitor flock for health issues and report concerns to the SPF Flock manager and/or SPF Operator Leader
- Check equipment and perform minor repairs
- Monitor and maintain feeders, waterers, medicators, house temperatures, bird weights and condition
- Remove dead birds
- Perform all other related duties as assigned
- Check food/water is given appropriately and correct amount
- Work with eggs--collect eggs, examined and sanitized. placed in trays and brought to manufacturing department.
- Working with chickens.
- Minor repairs on equipment--willing to train.
- Make sure chickens are doing well.
Skills/Qualifications:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred but not required.
- Farming experience preferred.
- Must have a very flexible schedule.
- Ability to follow SOPs
- Ability to work well alone
