Description

The contractor must have:

A university degree in information systems engineering, information technology or related discipline. A formal post-secondary training in IT will be considered as an asset.

Fluency in both spoken and written English.

Essential Skills:

The contractor assigned to this post will have/have experience in:

*a University Degree in Electrical and/or Electronics Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related discipline with 4 years post related experience, or a Higher Secondary education and completed advanced vocational training in that discipline leading to a professional qualification or professional accreditation with 5 years post related and 2 years function related experience;
*antenna sub-system including: Radome, feed horn, reflector, pedestal, waveguides, tracking receiver, servo and drive equipment;
*transmit and receive chains including up and down converters, Low Noise Amplifiers, High Power Amplifiers;
*MODEMs, Electronic Protected Modems (EPMs), Bandwidth Management Equipment (BME), cryptographic equipment, Routers, Switches;
*computer-assisted Monitor and Control System (M&CS);
*GPS-disciplined Frequency Reference Standards and associated distribution systems;
*AC Power distribution equipment, emergency AC Power generation and associated fuel storage, Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS);
*Heating, Ventilation, Air-Conditioning (HVAC) systems;
*Digital-Line-of-Sight (DLOS), Fiber Optical cables and other tails systems;
*in-depth knowledge of digital techniques;
*TCP/IP fundamentals, video transmission principles and telecommunications quality assurance practices;
*Servo-mechanisms;
*emergency power generating systems;
*the development, implementation, fielding, testing and maintenance of modern communications equipment;
*on-line performance, accounting, fault, security and configuration management of digital networks and associated transmission systems to include packet switching systems in support of voice & data transfer;
*Logistic Support, managing the supply and replenishment of spare parts, dispatch of faulty units for repair;
*or familiarity with related international/commercial/industrial standards;
*proven ability to communicate effectively orally, using tact and diplomacy, and in writing with good briefing skills;
*the incumbent must have a minimum of four years of experience in the operation or maintenance of satellite ground terminals/stations or related systems such as radars or Line-Of-Sight.
