Management Accountant/Finance Manager

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Accountant/Finance Manager with project experience to join a business for a 3 - 4 month period.

The successful candidate will join a small finance team and support the maintenance of financial accounting packs, intercompany accounting, financial reporting and budgeting.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Monitoring the performance of the business & variances in financial position.
  • Preparing accurate and complete monthly management accounts.
  • Preparing financial information for FA packs, providing input and support to the reporting process as directed.
  • Assisting in the preparation of financial budgets and other strategy documents.
  • Leading monthly budgetary feedback to various department heads with 'Actual spend 'v' budget', reporting back on any variances.
  • Ensuring compliance with financial controls and procedures.
  • Managing, maintaining and forecasting daily cashflow,
  • Monitoring and analysing fixed establishment costs to highlight and identify where wastages occur and savings can be made.
  • Coordinating monthly forecasting meetings to provide input to the forecasting process.
  • Preparing statutory returns, including UK VAT, Intrastat, and National Statistics.
  • Maintaining fixed assets register, calculating depreciation.
  • Leading capital expenditure proposals by providing financial input, gathering data, and ensuring the format and content are in line with Capex procedures.
  • Preparing key control accounts and reconciliations. Reviewing reconciliations prepared by the Finance team to ensure accuracy and completeness.

Desired Experience:

The successful candidate will possess/be working towards a professional accounting qualification or alternatively possess extensive QBE experience in a similar role.

  • Experience of IFRS reporting requirements
  • Excellent IT/System skills - Advanced Excel
  • Experience in project accounting would be advantageous
  • Good attention to detail, accurate and meticulous
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and work to tight deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written), including the ability to deal with internal and external clients (including non-finance)
