Description

Summary:
  • The R&D Procurement & Contract Management (PCM) team is seeking an experienced Procurement Category Sourcing Manager (CSM) to support several categories at the R&D facility.
  • Categories will include Global Lab Supplies and other areas as needed.
  • The position is part of the PCM team consisting of Procurement Associates, Category Managers, and Contract Managers.
  • It reports into the Head of R&D Procurement & Contract Management.
  • The CSM will guide the selection, development and management of suppliers to meet category cost and performance goals.
  • They will negotiate contractual agreements to ensure that service, quality, and total costs are secured.
  • They will provide category oversight and seek improvements to costs and performance.
  • The ideal candidate will be able to tactfully balance the needs of end users with suppliers, as well as handle urgent situations such as credit holds.
  • The position must contribute towards the global $5M cost savings goal.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Manage competitive bids and negotiations for the categories supported
  • Manage the Global Lab Supply category
  • Work closely with 3rd party Distributor and numerous other lab supply vendors to ensure competitive costs, business continuity, and day-to-day operations are handled in accordance with proper policy and procedures.
  • Support the Ariba lab supply and chemicals purchasing catalogs.
  • Review Purchase Orders (POs) and provide instruction to Procurement Associates to ensure POs are executed with proper legal documentation, pricing, and financial coding.
SKILLS:

Minimum Background and Experience:
  • 3-5 Years of Category Sourcing Manager experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Procurement, or similar business discipline
  • Ability to understand and negotiate contracts with suppliers
  • Ability to work with minimal oversight in complex environment
  • Skilled in computer systems such as SAP, Ariba, etc.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Understanding and ability to navigate Procure-to-Pay (P2P) process (ie POs and invoices)
Desirable Skills, education, experience, attributes:
  • Ability to work well with colleagues at all levels of the organization
  • Understanding of Foreign Corrupt Practices Act
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Scientific or Pharmaceutical background
  • Understanding of complex financial account coding
