Schedule Planner

A Schedule Planner is required to work on a twelve month contract with the possibility of extension for our Defence client based in Preston.

This is a 12 month contract with a leading UK Defence Business

Overview of the Schedule Planner contract role

A vacancy exists for an experienced schedule planner with relevant project management and schedule planning experience (with ideally some engineering knowledge/experience). The successful candidates will work alongside Aircraft Support Product Teams (On Aircraft/Off Aircraft/Ground Support and Training Systems consisting of both project management and engineering staff):

Schedule Planner Overview

  • The successful candidate will be required to perform tasks suitable to the internal level of this role. The role will contain, but will not be limited to, the following;
  • To maintain a configuration controlled list of all engineering and technical requirements and ensure schedule workscope is baseline change controlled accordingly and consistently across teams, contracts and schedules ensuring consistency of structure and approach across all teams and schedules
  • To work with Engineering leads/teams and deployed project managers to develop/establish (in Microsoft Project) baselined engineering team delivery schedules including all key logical links between milestones, dependencies, tasks and deliverables
  • To establish detailed integrated schedules and resource plans for all engineering teams across all contracts
  • To operate a regular schedule progress update cycle to provide latest forecast dates and critical path events for all key delivery milestones etc
  • To regularly review risks to ensure the schedules include relevant risk mitigation/fallback plans as necessary to ensure risk is treated consistently in the schedules. Eg. Schedules based on most likely dates, with worst case/best case treated as risks/opportunities.
  • To operate a Change Management process covering changes to existing work and new business.
  • To facilitate and support the review of new work estimates and existing work estimates to complete, based the schedule view of work required/remaining
  • To work with project managers to ensure that the engineering schedules budget and spend achievement is understood
  • To work with the Project Control team to ensure booking numbers are available to the Support Product teams and work with the Support Product teams to ensure costs are collected accurately.
  • To provide analysis and management information summarise status

The role is based in Preston, Lancashire - commutable from Blackpool, Lancaster, Morecambe, Chorley, Leyland, Blackburn, Darwen, Burnley, Skipton, Stockport, Manchester, Warrington, Wigan, Bolton, Bury, Rochdale and Oldham with excellent access from Liverpool and Leeds
