Description

PURPOSE OF POSITION:

As a member of the Back Office IT team, this position is responsible for server builds, proactive and reactive maintenance of the server estate, infrastructure and communications management.

Expert level server support of global server infrastructure and senior liaison with 3rd party Network and communication partners.

Some team leadership responsibilities and mentoring/support to other members of the team

DUTIES:

  • Management and maintenance of Active Directory Infrastructure (Inc. DNS, DHCP, DFS, etc.)
  • Maintenance of Datacentres and DR sites
  • Monitoring of the infrastructure to proactively identify issues or problems before they occur using monitoring tools such as OPMANAGER and SCOM
  • Capacity planning
  • Respond to all service desk incidents logged to the Back Office team within SLA
  • Vendor and 3rd party liaison for escalations and problems
  • Provide assistance to other members of the team as necessary
  • Good understanding of network technology. (Minimum ability to create VPNs, basic routing configuration, installation of Switches, etc.)
  • Carry out ad-hoc project based implementation work
  • Manage backups and restores
  • Management of the VMware estate (VBLOCK), SCCM, SAN, Citrix, Exchange, Active Directory and all other critical technologies.
  • Defining server standards
  • Building Servers to ED&F standards
  • Testing and identifying of patches to maintain server stability and security
  • Will be required to work some bank holidays and at least 1 weekend per month for server patching.

  • Communication with 3rd parties, vendors and senior managers
  • Able to quickly learn and support bespoke business applications.
  • Communication with developers to identify function upgrade requirements/bug fixes.
  • Consolidation and migration from physical to virtual Servers
  • EMC- Storage Technologies
  • Hyperion/Oracle would be advantage
  • Windows server 2003,2008 and 2012
  • VMware ESX, vSphere
  • Knowledge of VBLOCK will be useful but not essential
  • Active Directory including DHCP, DNS, WINS
  • Exchange 2010 and Exchange Online (365)

  • Hardware builds and server components

  • Backups and Restores using Arcserve and VEEAM
  • Testing - functional and performance
  • Good working knowledge and use of remote technologies such as Dameware.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

Minimum Level of Education: Degree Level preferred but not essential, if relevant experience can be demonstrated in a consultant or architect capacity

Language: Fluent English and Spanish essential

Years & Type of Experience: minimum 8 years' experience in a similar or relevant role

Certificates/Licenses: Relevant MCPs, VCP, Citrix, Cisco
