Finance Director, Director of Finance, Estates & Procurement, Estates Director, Public sector, ACAS

This is an excellent opportunity for a Finance Director looking for their next contract. My public sector client provides expert and impartial advice on good practice, and support in finding solutions when relationships go wrong. As the Finance Director you will provide leadership and professional expertise which ensures that the FEP team provides robust oversight of finance, procurement and estates matters, meeting customer needs and Civil Service good practice while also demonstrating continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities for the Finance Director:

  • Effective leadership across the organisation as a member of the Executive Board at a time of change
  • Expert advice to the Accounting Officer on matters relating to financial regularity, propriety and value for money.
  • Provide a strong finance function, maintaining and improving effective controls, systems and advice to internal customers.
  • Preparation of the annual report and accounts.
  • Provide personal advice on propriety, regularity and value for money to the CEO as Accounting Officer.
  • Provide effective support to colleagues around GB in relation to the organisations' estates (currently 12 locations)
  • Act as an intelligent customer in challenging and supporting the shared service function in delivery of a fit for purpose service, avoiding duplication and representing value for money.
  • Provide effective procurement support to colleagues across the organisation, supporting and advising them in working with the shared service procurement function while acting as an intelligent customer in challenging the shared service to deliver a fit for purpose service which represents value for money.

The Finance Director will ideally have the following skills and experience:

  • Providing strong collaborative leadership at senior level
  • Transforming corporate functions to meet the needs of a service delivery organisation
  • Preparing annual accounts for presentation to Parliament
  • Working at senior levels, advising Accounting Officers or other senior managers with large budgets on issues relating to controls, propriety, regularity and value for money
  • Developing the capability of individuals and teams.
  • Qualified Accountant
