JOB TITLE: Network/System - System Engineer - TSM Skillset
DURATION: 12 months +
LOCATION: Prague, Czech Republic
Responsibilities include:
- IBM TSM (Spectrum Protect) Expert/Engineer is the primary technical interface working with all Infrastructure support teams in identifying, troubleshooting, and helping resolve server backup and restoration issues.
- Engineer/Expert role in the area of TSM Environments responsible for Engineering and extended BAU support activities.
- Supports design, documentation and deployment of new TSM data protection environments (including server hardware, OS, TSM backup product configuration or with tape drives/libraries or data domain backup appliances which are also configured for remote site replication)
- Setting up Server Side de-duplication
- Configuring replication processes at source and target replication sites
- Work with diverse teams to resolve issues with TSM backup operations with new and existing BAU installations
- Build solution packages based on pre-defined reference architecture to upgrade older versions of TSM (ie, V5.5 on Win2k3) at global company locations to the new target architecture. Solution packages include-but are not limited to-the following elements
- Develop technical diagrams comprising of network connectivity to geographically dispersed data centers; Diagrams include details such as Switches, ILOs, IP and vLan configuration; storage pool sizing and configuration as well as target replication device sizing and configuration
- Build qualification documentation such as Installation Qualification and Operational Qualification Documentation
- Work with technical writers to finalise installation and other site specific documentation
- Build and configure TSM virtual and physical TSM
- Setting up and configuring TSM backup and archive nodes
- Deploy and configure backup appliances to work with TSM (eg, Data domains)
- Deploy Snapshot processes with TSM
- Deploy TSM instances in public cloud as well as configure backup and archive nodes to backup in the cloud and replicate to internal data centers.
- Build scripts to automate the deployment of backup agents in the target sites (eg, TSM and/or DPA agents)
- Build technical test scripts as needed to test disaster capabilities between host site and target replication site
- Ensure all documentation of solutions follows company standards and is clear and concise;
- Build and configure backup jobs in target environment in a controlled fashion (ie, under change control)
- Build and deploy TSM scripts as needed for various environment management purposes
Experience and Education and Other Requirements include:
- IBM TSM v5.5 through 7.1.x is mandatory in physical and virtual environments
- Strong TSM Scripting skills is mandatory
- Knowledge of TSM implementations with EMC Data domains highly desirable
- Experience with TSM data protection process in public cloud (ie, AWS) is highly desirable
- Solid understanding and ability to work at the Server OS level with the following products:
-- Windows Server 2003 through 2012
-- IBM Unix, AIX, RedHat Linux
- Solid understanding of backup area networks and backup data replication across wide area networks to geographically dispersed data centers
- Ability to install, configure and troubleshoot TSM agents (Windows, AIX, Linux, HPUX).
- In-depth understanding of TSM backup and archive node and storage pool configuration
- TSM Server Administration (patching, startup, shutdown, troubleshooting)
- Understanding of hardware monitoring concepts using HP-OMI
- Understanding of EMC Backup Reporting and Monitoring Tool (Data Protection Advisor)
- Basic understanding how to zone SAN Switches
- Experience administering IBM tape libraries from AIX, HP and NBU highly desirable
- Understanding of Archive technologies and storage tiering and cloud storage concepts a plus
- Backup Management in a regulated environment, preferably previous pharmaceutical experience
- Excellent English communication skills as well as and good documentation skills is mandatory
- University working and thinking level, degree in computer science or 6 years comparable education/experience
- Working knowledge of WAN and LAN technologies including IP, Switches and Firewalls
- Working with internal and external service providers.
- Proven track record working with multinational teams.
- Strong customer facing and relationship management skills.
- Strong understanding of CMDB principles and auto-discovery processes in a global computer environment.
- Good working knowledge of IT infrastructure qualification and/or process validation in a pharmaceutical setting
- Working collaboratively in a global environment and cross-functional project teams
- This role will also be responsible for mentoring other backup engineering team members in TSM best practices in large global environments
