Description

Service Network Engineer

MAIN TASKS

  • Engineer international service networks (including the Service Layer over the IP/MPLS backbone & Access Network, integration of the services into Datacenters Networks)
    • Design, test and implement technical solutions based on business and operational requirements, taking into account recent technology evolutions.
    • Generates methods, procedures and technical documentation regarding delivered solutions to be used by the various operational departments, performs operational hand-over of the delivered solution
    • Ensures that the underlying service network & systems are rightfully dimensione
    • Manages the system's software & hardware life cycle.
  • Ensures good interaction and communication with: Voice & Mobile Engineers, Product Managers, Customers, Procurement, Operational teams, Suppliers, Security, Analysts and IT Engineers.
  • Leads or contributes to creation of RFI (Request for Information) and RFP (Request for Proposal) documents by determining functional and technical specifications.
  • Follow up technological and market evolution trends
  • Provide Internal workshops & ad-hoc trainings

TECHNICAL SKILLS

  • Engineering Degree with an experience of minimum 5 years in the Telecom service network industry
  • Expert knowledge of (with hands on experience)
  • IPv4 Routing protocols (BGP, MP-BGP, ISIS, OSPF)
  • MPLS, MPLS Layer 2 & Layer3 VPN, 6(v)PE
  • BGP Routing policies and Route Reflector configurations
  • QoS design and configurations
  • Very good understanding on general MNO architecture and particularly Packet Core (3G/4G - EPC)
  • Understanding on roaming concepts and architecture. Experience with underlying Packet Core protocols is a strong asset (GTP, Diameter, Sigtran stack)
  • Knowledge of IP-Security, familiarities with Firewall configuration
  • Switched network environments (Fabric Path, QinQ, (rapid) Spanning tree variants, 802.3ad)
  • SNMP & Syslogs
  • IPv6
  • Large Service Provider Carrier Networks architectures
  • Familiarities with Datacenter network architectures (Cisco Nexus)
  • F5 Load Balancer & Firewall configurations

Required Hands on experience with

  • Nexus 5k
  • Cisco High-End Routers (7600/ASR1k)
  • ALCATEL SR Routers (7750)
  • Cisco ME3400, ASR920
