Systems Engineer (Information Assurance)

Duration: 6 months rolling

Location: Gloucestershire

Start Date: ASAP

Modis are currently recruiting on behalf of a Defence company based in Gloucestershire who can offer a long term contract position to an experienced Systems Engineer with experience in System Engineering and Requirement Management activities to ensure Information Assurance products are designed to meet the requirements of their customers.

Key Responsibilities:

*Systems design experience of complex systems that includes the design of software or FPGA/
ASIC-based Real Time Embedded processing systems
*Ability to decompose user, security and business requirements into lower-level functionality, suitable for communication to implementation teams
*Capable of making trade-off judgments to guide in architecting potential solutions

Knowledge, Skills and Experiences:

*Full understanding of the system engineering life cycle and V-model.
*Contribute to design reviews and present material in specialist area Presentation skills and detailed technical knowledge to explain system engineering concepts to a wide technical audience
*Experience of requirements management tools (IBM DOORS or similar tools)
*Familiarity with commercial and military standards. Desirable to have an understanding of CESG processes and standards
*Skill in creating a system design to provide optimal solutions by appropriately allocating functionality between hardware, firmware and software based on experience within one or more of these fields
*Ability to tailor requirements and design to ensure design for test and design for manufacture is considered
*Proficient in conducting high level systems design from system requirements and Usecases down to Activity diagrams
*Proficient in conducting low level systems design from Usecases & Activity diagrams to Sequence diagrams and state machines
*Ability to model and characterise systems behaviour using C++ or similar applications to fully define HW, SW or FW solutions
*Knowledge and/or experience of developing IP systems. This may include network architecture and protocols such as ARP, DHCP, SNMP, TCP, UDP etc.
*Experience in working with multiple engineering disciplines including software, FPGA, electrical/mechanical hardware
*Experience of UML-based design
*Knowledge and/or experience of cryptographic or security systems is an advantage.
*Track record in developing systems that are subject to formal regulatory scrutiny

Qualifications:

*Degree or equivalent qualification in Engineering, Mathematics, Physics or have suitable industry experience.
*Ability to obtain SC level security clearance.
