Financial Service client of mine is looking to take on a Security/Audit DBA on a 6 month rolling contract.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

The main focus of the Security & Audit Focused DBA role will be to assist in supporting internal and external audit and security review activities including advance preparation, evidence gathering, etc. The role will also involve the continuing protect responsibilities of database activity monitoring, reconciliation, review, and sign-off.

The resource will be expected to work with the clients Database team, and assist in driving security and compliance remediation activities, periodic reviews, etc., and in providing reporting and assurance on the status of these activities.
The resource will also be expected to bring the experience of performing similar functions in other organisations to use these to identify opportunities to drive efficiencies, technical and procedural, in support of the Database security, compliance, and assurance responsibilities.

Essential Experience/Skills:

Strong understanding of Database security principals and operational practises
Experienced in working in similar security focused DBA function in other organisations
Experienced in design, implementation, and support of preventative and detective privileged user access solutions, technical and procedural, on database platforms
Experienced in the design, implementation, and support of automated security and compliance technologies and procedures on database platforms

There are three broad range of database technical experience disciplines sought.

Database Discipline 1:

Strong database administration experience in distributed database technologies including Oracle and SQL Server databases
Knowledge & experience of Sybase ASE 12.5.x advantageous

Database Discipline 2:

Strong database administration experience in IBM Mainframe database technologies including IMS and DB2 zOS databases

Database Discipline 3:

Strong database administration experience in Data Warehouse technologies, particularly Teradata, and related upstream and downstream processes.
