Description

Project Engineer:

Our client, a leading renewable energy operator, is seeking to hire a Project Engineer/Plant Engineer to support the delivery of approved detailed design for an onshore substation. This contract role would involve supporting the revision of the detailed design whilst ensuring safety, quality and environmental standards are adhered to.

Key Tasks:
  • Revision/approval substation main plant technical reports, design, specifications, such: as Earthing Study and busbar calculation, besides any design, drawings and other relevant documentation to High Voltage substation projects in UK.
  • Checking the supplier's HV apparatus that will be used in the project whilst also providing technical support to ensure the compliance with electrical regulations, such as Circuit Breakers, Disconnectors and Earth Switch, Power/Auto Transformer, Shunt reactors, Filters and Current/Voltage transformers.
  • Assist in on how to deal with busbar & earthing design during the tender process of the Balance of Plant contract and the following works on site as.
  • Interface design with relevant areas; civil, protection and control, electrical equipment, etc., as well as supporting junior members of the team.
Proficient knowledge of:
  • High/low voltage equipment related to high voltage substations.
  • Plant design, calculations, earthing, busbar, GIS, AIS, firefighting, and relevant substation equipment.
  • Experience of Substations in previous roles and preferably with high voltage projects for companies such as the National Grid.
  • Highly skilled and able to have an engineering input in any report related to the project such as Earthing Study, Busbar Calculations, Building Services (Low Voltage and HVAC) and technical requirements associated with the Balance of Plant Contract Skills to deal with the technical aspect of the electromechanical design.
  • Application of international standards, such as International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), Bristish Standard (BS), Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).
  • Also advance acquaintance with technical specifications by National Grid (NG) and Energy Network Association (ENA) Previous experience in OFTO substation projects is a plus.
