Description

A Leading renewable energy client of ours is currently looking for a Geophysical Engineer for their offshore wind farm project. We are looking for a Consultant who can support survey planning and operation for shallow geophysical investigation campaigns, technical management of geophysical survey, daily follow-up on technical quality of geophysical survey and will have QA responsibility for all data and interpretive deliveries for the project.

The start date for this role is 1st March 2018 up until approx. 31st July 2018 with the possibility of extending further thereafter, there is a possibility to extend further thereafter. Hours of work will normally be 8 hrs a day, 5 days a week, you must also expect to travel to the client's various projects in the UK and Europe.
Responsibilities:

  • To ensure geophysical and seabed basis for developing the site.
  • Establish Geophysical, Geotechnical and seabed engineering for developing the cable route.
Tasks:
  • Must be able to provide input for Geological desk study.
  • Establish and maintain Geological Model (Seismo Stratigraphic to geotechnical proved ground model).
  • Define geophysical Scope of Works (including bathymetry, magnetic, site scan sonar, ROV and seismic survey etc).
  • Provide expertise on seabed change.
  • Geophysical survey assistance (daily follow-up on technical quality of geophysical surveys, processing and interpretation).
  • QA responsibilities for all geophysical data gathered from site.
  • Geophysical input to risk register (UXO, boulders, Geohazard, Archaeology, seabed changes consent).
  • Establish risk mitigation strategy (define and supervise risk mitigation actions, surveys, analyses, inspections).
  • Define geophysical SoW for array and export cable surveys including intertidal landfall and HDD.
  • Compile ground model and assessment of seabed change for cable routes incorporating both geophysical and geotechnical data.
  • Prepare cable route risk assessment (geo-risks towards cable integrity and installation).
  • Provide geophysical and geotechnical input to array and export cable route planning and installation (thermal and electrical parameters, input for cable installation methods and assessments of cable burial depths).
  • To liaise and gather geotechnical input from the geotechnical engineer on the preparation of ground model, cable route risk assessment and input for cable planning, installation method and design.

Qualifications of Candidate:

  • MSc or other Master degree in engineering.
  • Minimum 5 years. of relevant work experience as geophysicist or Scour expert.
  • Geophysical Engineer or similar with experience in marine geoscience and ground model development.
  • Experience of technical elements of survey planning and support of operations/logistics.
  • Data and deliverable QA from range of MBES,SSS, SBP and MAG systems.
  • Must have knowledge of ArcMap, Global Mapper, Oasis Montaj, SonarWiz.

The Consultants must bring his/her own PPE equipment.
