Systems Design Authority

Location: South West England

Duration: 6 months [initially]

EXCLUSIVE OPPORTUNITY: Sopra Steria is currently recruiting for a Systems Design Authority to be responsible for ensuring design change decisions are fully understood, following through the technical change cycle from redesign, test and validation and roll out to the live environment.

The is part of a large scale programme or work, delivering secure access to information services for users across various locations in the UK and overseas, providing a configurable network that has a single sign-on.

This contract is for an initial six months, with the option to extend for at least another six beyond that.

On client's instructions, due to the urgency, nature and length of the assignment, the successful candidate must have current security clearance to a high level.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITY:

  • Ensuring that they are aware of the component level of end to end (e2e) delivery of all services such as applications, operating systems, network and hardware devices
  • Engineering authority for:
    • The Technical Change Board
    • The release of all new capability onto the live system
    • The authority for all patches incl WSUS identifying which elements need to be rolled out and which do not.
    • Signing off all engineering changes including ensuring the following documents have been updated:
      • Design Documentation
        • HLD
        • ILD
        • LLD
        • Work Instruction
        • Impacting all engineering changes to the live environment
        • SM technical Lead for the development and integration of SM Tooling, ensuring that it is aligned with the Tooling Strategy
        • SM technical lead for the development and integration of Security Tooling and required Legacy services
        • Provide advice and support to the ILS team in relation to:
          • Obsolescence
          • Licensing requirements
          • Provide engineering support and guidance on the integration of Legacy Services into the TLS teams.

ESSENTIALS SKILLS:

  • Prior experience of working as an SDA
  • Working knowledge of the Deployed environment at IL5
  • Knowledge of a wide variety of technologies such as Microsoft Windows, SQL Server, Exchange, SharePoint, ePO, Trend Micro, gateways, SANs, VMware, Linux, top 10 NATO FAS Apps, etc.
  • Keeps up to date with current technology trends
  • Keeps up to date with security defects (eg Spectre, Meltdown)
  • Experience of working in a mixed Delivery Team (civil, crown and contractor)
  • Experience of working with subcontractors

DESIRABLE SKILLS:

  • Experience of influencing senior programme leaders
  • Knowledge of MODAF, TOGAF or equivalent frameworks
