Reprographics Printing/Typesetter Operative
6 months at least three months with possible extension

Job Summary:

  • Reporting to the Reprographics Manager, the Reprographics Printing Operative is responsible for a variety of typesetting jobs, finishing work, general print room support work and support of the photocopier fleet.
  • To be responsible for typesetting of all stationery working closely with the rest of the Reprographics team:
  • Receiving requests for stationery by email or hand-written forms presented at front of shop.
  • Typesetting stationery into various 'Indesign' templates on an Apple Macintosh
  • Converting these files to pdf and sending to the client for proofing.
  • Adhering to the Style Guide regarding the corporate image.
  • Making any amendments as advised by the client.
  • Managing email correspondence in a timely and organised fashion.
  • Capturing all information and recharging departments accordingly.
  • Liaising with other Reprographics staff to monitor turnaround times for the printed materials.
  • Digital printing and guillotining of business cards (training and supervision will be given) and wet ink printing of letterheads and compliment slips on a Ricoh Priport JP8500.
  • Correcting artwork to make suitable for print readiness (replacing low resolution logos, colour correcting, correcting layouts etc.)
  • Outsourcing orders for large format or specialist print requests such as printed eco bags and other promotional materials. Also keeping clear records of agreed costs for recharging purposes.
  • To give support in maintaining all outstation and convenience photocopiers and to be familiar with the maintenance and usage of all Reprographics systems.
  • Responsible for the ordering of and monitoring levels of Reprographics stock and consumables especially relating to stationery production.
  • General help around the department using various finishing equipment especially thermal and coil binders (training will be given), encapsulating, packing printed materials cleanly and accurately and delivering printed matter around campus.
