I am looking for an experienced Middleware Engineer to join an Leading European Institution for an initial 12 month contract based in Brussels. Day rate is flexible DOE. YOU must be fluent in English, ideally understand French

Main Functions:

The senior engineer will integrate the I&AM department. Responsibilities encompass deploying, provisioning and operating complex LDAP-based provisioning systems which provide different functionalities to the ECAS main authentication services.

The Identity & Access Management service aims at providing IT identity to users but also to partners users (ie users from other institutions, from agencies, JTI, etc.) and external users (ie any citizen of the world.

Duties:

  • Operational tasks on Oracle Directory server such as:

o Stop/Start LDAP Server

o Replication tasks (stop, start, resync, ssl)

o Perform LDAP query

o Indexing jobs

o Troubleshooting via access, audit, error logs

o Backup of running instance

o Restore instance from backup

o Schema updates

  • Infrastructure

o Upgrade LDAP Server to new version

o Patch the server

o Migrate from Solaris to Linux

  • Monitoring

o Abilities to monitor the LDAP Servers via homemade scripts

o Understand mechanism to proactively monitor the LDAP Servers

  • Scripting

o Write new scripts bash, ksh, Perl

o Improve current scripts

  • Operating systems

o Linux RedHat 6.5

o Solaris 10 update 10

  • Administrative tasks:

o Create incidents

o Manage incidents/request for service/request for info from the outside world

o Create and lead change management (create tickets, procedure, documentation)

o Create/update documentation and operational procedures

Working Conditions:

Employment and technical Requirements:

  • At least 6 years of experience in UNIX/Oracle infrastructure environments
  • Very good knowledge of

o Linux/UNIX/Oracle

o SQL

o JAVA

o PERL

o SHELL

  • Ability to adapt to changes quickly
  • Punctual, meticulous and reliable
  • Analytical and systematic approach to problem solving
  • Experience with European Commission is an asset
  • ITIL V3 foundation certification
  • Experience with Prince2/PM² methodologies
  • Experience with ticketing system (SMT is an asset)
  • Experience with CHANGE and RELEASE Management
  • Experience with Sharepoint as user
