Title: Data Center Cable Infrastructure Technician
Location: Pittsburgh, PA
Duration: 12months +
POSITION DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Major tasks and responsibilities:
1. Maintain and operate NA Data Center network for Hosting (VMWare, Blade, P500, etc.), Storage (Fibre Channel, ISCSI, NAS, etc.) and Network Services (NTP, Cache, Load Balancing/High Availability, Security - IPS/IDS, Vwalls, etc.). Determine network requirements (ie design, configure, install, etc.) with network users.
2. Develop strategies to accommodate network growth, security, and enhancements by maximizing functionality of network equipment (ie Cisco Routers, gateways, Switches, etc.).
3. Monitor network implementation, providing support in a timely and accurate manner; design network performance reports, detailing network status.
4. Technical Analysis - Analyze data traffic patterns within network infrastructure, detecting operational problems and recommending improvements to ensure optimal performance
5. Proactively identify symptoms and instabilities in a timely and accurate manner to include performing analysis, capacity planning, and testing for organizations network environment. This includes monitoring trends in documented incidents and determine appropriate actions necessary to eliminate future occurrences and improve customer service levels in an appropriate timeframe
6. Make recommendations to management on enhancements to network that will improve the quality and reliability of the network's performance.
7. Provide general network support by configuring Routers, Switches, Load Balancers, etc.
8. Troubleshooting and resolution: Respond to 24-hour/7-day-a-week service needs while adhering to established departmental guidelines.
REQUIREMENTS/PREFERENCES:
Associate's Degree
3 to 5 years of experience in Data Center Networking environment, working with Cisco equipment
Specific experience with Cisco Nexus 7000, 5000 & 2000 series devices utilizing Fabric Path
Networks Protocols & Technologies: OSPF, ISIS, BGP, EIGRP, MPLS, VPNs, 802.1q, ISL, Ether Channel, Multicast, HSRP
Network Management Tools: NMS/Cisco Prime/CA Performance Manager, PCap Analysis, Spectrum.
PREFERENCES:
Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) strongly preferred
Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) desirable
Applications & OS: MS Office, Exchange and Visio, Windows, Linux, VMware, Citrix
Competent with operating and interrupting all SMTP Management applications
Routing/Switching Hardware: Cisco Catalyst 6500, Optical Network systems (ONS/DWDM)
Load Balancing: CISCO ACE, Citrix NetScaler, Citrix NMAS
