Im searching for an Environment professional to join an Environmental Health Team undertaking environmental protection and public health duties. The role is to commence mid to end of March and is likely to last for three months with a possibility of being transferred to permanent employment with this client.
You will provide leadership and support to officers involved in Environmental Protection and Licensing work by assisting with complex enquiries/investigations with particular reference to:
* Drainage and pollution incidents
* Noise
* Other nuisance (dust, odour, light, vibration, fumes etc.)
* Pest control enforcement
* Filthy/verminous premises
* Licensing enforcement/queries.
Responsibilities will also involve reviewing current planning applications with a requirement to attend planning committees and hearings with reference to matters relating to environmental protection.
To take the lead and/or contribute on contaminated land by updating the Contaminated Land Inspection Strategy for the District as and when required following changes in legislation, published guidance or best practice. You will be providing advice and guidance to Planning and Building Control officers with respect to the development of land affected by contamination and respond to enquiries received as part of Local Land Charge Searches with respect to land contamination.
To undertake specialist and complex environmental permitting inspections, issuing of permits, compiling and completing DEFRA returns, complaints investigation, enforcement activity and any other enforcement duties deemed necessary.
