Civil Site Engineer - Bristol, Somerset, South West England - £300 - £350 Per Day - 6 months

The Civil Site Engineer will enact the role of NEC Supervisor supporting the National Grid Project Engineer in executing the site delivery in accordance with National Grid policies & procedures and the Development Consents Order (DCO).

The Civil Site Engineer will interface between the Principal Contractors Site Management Team & Occupiers Representatives (SAP/Commissioning Engineers) to ensuring all site based construction activities are delivered efficiently and in accordance with the Works Information& DCO requirements.

The Civil Site Engineerwill proactively monitor the works to ensure a safe & commercially robust position is maintained.

The role will be site based, covering a number of construction activities & sites throughout the Hinkley Point C Connection Project Portfolio.

The level of site engagement will vary due to the complexity, scope of works and performance

Key Accountabilities & Experience Required:

Promote & challenge PC Site Teams to delivery continuous improvement & value for money, looking to introduce innovation, and minimising inefficiencies. In particular proactively engaging with all stakeholders to eliminate unnecessary change events.

Review, input & support the deliverability of the PC site delivery programme. Ensuring good liaison between PC & Occupiers personnel ie SAP/CE and other parties. Where necessary engaging in dispute resolution.

Closely monitor progress of the site works, anticipate problems and difficulties and report back to the PE any significant problems that may affect programme. Be pro-active in foreseeing and preventing issues, not merely reacting to problems as they occur

Undertake sensible monitoring of site construction activities and assure that an effective PC Safety Management System is in place. Engaging in incident investigation when required

Proactively ensuring projects are robustly commercial positioned from a site delivery perspective. Support the risk reduction process to reduce exposure to price or programme events. Where necessary escalation of issues to PE and raising of EWN

Act on behalf of the CDM(A) to ensure that the Principal Contractor (PC) is pro-active in discharging (both accountable and responsible) their duties under the CDM regulations

SHESQ Sensible Monitoring encouraging the PC to employ best practice - Assure the suitability of Risk Assessments and Method Statements in an oversight capacity.

Provide engagement & support to ensure that regular PC Site Safety Walks & Site Progress Meetings are being held and minutes of these meetings are being progresses to assure that all key stakeholders are fully engaged. Potentially chair site interface meetings if required.

Inspect, approve or reject materials and workmanship. Notify PC/Contractor of NCR's or defects.

Comment on the contractors site quality plan, annotating hold and witness points, compliance checking, and progress monitoring through to completion

Verify site related contract data ie programme performance, costs, verifying CE data, payments

Provide regular site reports

Enact NG's site representative for community relations and consenting requirements

Ensure that a robust drawing/documentation management system is established and maintained on site

Support development of new schemes, inputting into the delivery viability
